We're in the process of applying for a code-signing certificate for The Bot — the credential that lets Windows recognize an app's publisher and skip the warnings below entirely. That process takes time to complete, and we didn't want to hold up getting the tool into your hands while we wait on it. Until it's issued, Windows will show a security prompt on first install. The steps below explain exactly what you'll see and what to do — the download itself is safe and comes directly from our own server.

"Windows protected your PC"

After running the installer, you may see a blue full-screen message titled Windows protected your PC, saying Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. This appears because the installer isn't yet digitally signed — not because anything was found wrong with it.

What to do:

  1. Click More info on that screen.
  2. A Run anyway button will appear — click it to continue installing.

Browser download warning

Some browsers (Chrome, Edge) may flag the downloaded .exe file itself as "not commonly downloaded" or ask you to confirm you want to keep it, for the same reason — it's a new file without an established download history yet.

What to do: choose Keep (Chrome) or Keep anyway (Edge) when prompted.

Antivirus prompts

Third-party antivirus software may also flag an unsigned installer for manual review. If yours does, you can allow it the same way — the file is served directly from our own servers at aiinterviewbot.com, not a third party.

None of this means anything is wrong with the download — it's purely a reputation/signing status that Windows and browsers track for every new, unsigned application. Once our certificate is issued, these prompts will stop appearing for new downloads.
